Award winning guitarist, composer, producer and educator Dr. David Wiatrolik has always showcased a deep appreciation and study of American music. While risk-taking group improvisation is central to David’s playing, his versatility as a musician, composer and educator is not bound by a particular genre or style. During is time in St. Louis with indy rock band Kentucky Knife Fight, Wiatrolik’s contributions as guitarist, co-producer and co-songwriter helped win album of the year for the 2009 release: The Wolf Crept, The Children Slept in the St. Louis River Front Times. After the release of their second full length album: We’re All Nameless Here, the band went on to be named best rock band by the St. Louis River Front Times in 2011.
In 2014 Wiatrolik left Colorado and relocated Los Angeles CA where he completed a Doctorate in Studio/Jazz Guitar at University of Southern California in May of 2017. During his three year stay in the entertainment capital, David performed, composed music for short films and TV, as well as did freelance recording and production work. In 2017 he returned to his home in Fort Collins Colorado and continues performing, composing, recording and producing music. David's country western / Americna band Dave and The Gin Mill Gypsies recently celebrated the release of the 3rd album, No Regrets in July of 2022. David currently is an instructor in the Recording Arts and Technology program at Front Range Community College. David performs regularly with Funky Business, Gin Mill Gypsies and has a residency playing solo jazz guitar at Ace Cafe in Downtown Fort Collins during the summers.
